Governor Kemp's Executive Order
On Monday, March 23rd, Governor Kemp ordered a shelter-in-place for those who live in a long-term care facility, have chronic lung disease, are undergoing cancer treatment, have a positive COVID-19 test, are suspected to have COVID-19 because of their symptoms and exposure, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19.This order also closes all bars and nightclubs and banned all gatherings of ten or more people unless you can maintain at least six feet between people at all times. Marietta Declaration of Emergency Situation
On Tuesday, March 24th, the Marietta City Council declared an emergency situation and enacted emergency measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This declaration places restrictions on bars, restaurants, and other on-premise food consumption businesses, and non-medical close-contact personal service providers. The declaration also limits parks and outdoor facilities' hours of operation and facility use. It places requirements on businesses to implement policies to enforce social distancing among its employees, agents, and customers. Lastly, it addresses telecommuting, home offices, and residential zoning and the postponement of zoning and land use matters that require a public hearing. In an effort to promote downtown, small businesses, the Marietta City Council voted unanimously to establish six 15-minute parking spots around the Square for curbside pickup.
Business License Extension
The Marietta City Council also voted to extend the due date for business license renewal payments to May 30th.
